Crabfest 2017

Salcombe’s annual Crabfest takes place this Sunday, 30th April from 10am to 6pm. What’s it all about? The festival celebrates local seafood, particularly crab, but also tourism and local arts and crafts. There’s lots happening from crab picking tuition, crab pot making, cookery demonstrations, live music and wine tasting.

The event will take place in Island Street and throughout the town and has been organised by the Rotary Club in conjunction with Salcombe Information Centre and Coast and Country Cottages. This year’s event and fundraising will be in aid of the local First Responders.

This year’s celebrity guest is Matt Tebbutt who is best known for presenting the Channel 4 programme Food Unwrapped. He is also a presenter on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and has lots of other television credits to his name.

Taking part in this year’s festival is Allister Bishop, South Sands’ Executive Chef. He will be doing cookery demonstrations on the day along with Joseph Robinson, known for his pop-up restaurants and spice based banquets. They will be joined by Andy Richardson the Head Chef at The Oyster Shack and Jane Baxter, who along with her business partner Samantha Miller run Wild Artichokes Food and Events in Kingsbridge.
